What is Isto?
Isto is a news aggregator for Slovenian media, live at isto.si. It continuously collects the latest news from 45+ Slovenian sources, compares the texts, and groups related articles into a single story. An AI then reads the collected sources and prepares a short, neutral summary - highlighting differences between outlets where needed.
Instead of opening a dozen news portals, you get one overview of the day’s events, with each story linked back to the original articles. The name works in both languages it draws from: in Slovenian, different media often report on the same (“isto”) story, and Isto gathers them in one place; in Latin, isto means “precisely this” - short, concise, neutral.
It includes full-text search, topic filters (politics, economy, sports, culture, technology, transport, environment, international, local), breaking-news alerts, a trending section, and a dark theme.
Why did I build it?
Slovenian media landscape is noisy: dozens of outlets cover the same events, each with its own spin. Isto was built to reduce that noise and give readers a faster, more neutral overview of what is actually happening.
It is developed entirely in my free time and runs independently, funded from my own pocket.
